32 Weeks

I had my 32 week appointment today. We had an ultrasound to check on Baby's kidney again and to see how big Baby is. After a lot of thought, I decided to let my mom come to this ultrasound. She has not been invited previously because I honestly didn't trust her to close her eyes when she was told too. She promised she would behave and knew she would have to leave the room if she didn't. She did good! The ultrasound tech never really looked at gender this time anyway.

Kidney issue is not completely resolved but is improving. Yay! This will be followed-up on with a pediatrician after birth. Hopefully it will all be completely resolved by them.

Heart rate was stong at 139 which is the rate it has been for the past several weeks. I love watching it beat on the screen, and the tech actually turned on the sound so we could hear it. Very cool!

So, is Baby still big? Yep! 4 pounds and 14 ounces. Really??? How is it possible that I can have a 5 pound baby already? This is especially scary to me knowing that growth is about 1 pound a week starting at week 36. So my calcualtions lead me to the conclusion that this is going to be a giant baby! My doctor tried to calm me by saying it will most likely not get to 10 pounds based on the percentile ranges that she has. Probably more of the 8-9 pound range. I'm not complaining - I am thrilled that Baby is growing so healthy! I just can't believe it is so big already. Guess I better start getting my hand weights out and start working out my arms!

My favorite part of the ultrasound today...Baby Livezey has a head full of hair! I didn't have a strand of hair on head until I was almost 2 years old, so this is very exciting to me. It also explains my heartburn.

We are starting to make progress on the nursery. The crib was set up last week. I have ordered fabric for the bedding and hope to get it to my grandmother next week so she can make that for us. My chair came in. I love it! It rocks and swivels. I have been sitting in it and Maggie sits or lays down beside me. She has been very good with the transformation of the room. She is pretty calm in there which is what we were hoping for.

Coming up this weekend is our first baby shower hosted by my sweet friends. I can not wait to see everyone! JT's birthday is also this weekend, so there is going to be lots of fun going on around here!

31 Weeks

This weekend we attended Childbirth Education classes at Baptist Hospital. We weren't really sure what to expect, but it was so informative and helpful! We are no experts now, but I think we both feel a little more relaxed and will hopefully be less panicked when the day finally comes. The instructor was amazing! The first day we talked about labor, epidurals, and most importantly...when do you come to the hospital. I've always imaginged that it would be this insane rush to jump in the car and speed to the hospital as fast as possible. We learned that this is usually not necessary, so hopefully we will be calmer when the time comes. The second day we learned more about infant care which is what we really needed the most. Again, we are no experts now, but at least we know where to begin.

JT has been super-busy getting the room ready for the nursery. He had to give up his office so that the nursery would be downstairs with our bedroom. He has been a very good sport throughout this transistion - he loved his office, and he'll get it back someday. Throughout the week he has moved furniture out of there and Saturday night we finally had a completely empty room. JT put the crib together, so now I am inspired enough to actually make some decisions about the bedding. I ordered my chair last week which should come in a couple of weeks, and I will try to get a dresser in the next couple of weeks too. All that will be left will be decor, which will probably be put off until Baby Livezey gets here - the final decision of pink or blue.

Maggie loved the empty room. She was rolling around in the floor and playing.

Helping me unpack the box. (She is chewing on styrofoam, not the crib pieces.)

Confusion...

Finished product! Maggie thinks this is the strangest looking kennel she has ever seen!

We have a lot of Baby Livezey's stuff in the room now. It is all in boxes or bags, but Maggie can see it and she is very curious! I want her to be exposed to all of it now, because she needs to know that it is NOT hers. Especially the stuffed animals - she likes to grab them and run off with them. I think she finally understands that they are not hers now because she doesn't try to destroy them anymore. It seems to be more of a game to her to get it from the bag and see how long it takes for me to notice. She is more willing to drop them now when I tell her to.

It was a great weekend! I can't believe there are only about 9 more weeks to go! Next week I'll have another ultrasound and get to see Baby Livezey again. I can't wait!
